The word real-time needs context
An options chain can display a stock price, option bid and ask, last trade, implied volatility and volume. Those values may have different update schedules or entitlements. A vendor saying it has real-time equities quotes does not automatically prove that real-time options depth is included.
Check your intended workflow
Someone reviewing end-of-day strategies might use a different feed from someone selecting strikes during live market hours. Check whether the platform’s options coverage, supported exchanges and history are appropriate to the research being done. Never assume a displayed last trade is a firm executable quote.
- Is the underlying price real-time, delayed or end-of-day?
- Are options bid/ask quotes and Greeks included in the plan?
- Does the subscription include the specific exchange or feed you need?
- Can historical options data be exported, and with what limitations?
Factor all fees into the comparison
Some trading tools price the interface and exchange data separately. Fees can also differ for professional and non-professional users. The only reliable price is the complete subscription and exchange entitlement for your situation, verified with the vendor.
- Platform subscription price
- Exchange or data add-on
- Professional-user or other eligibility rules
- Historical data and export limits
Use the right source for live decisions
Options can be complex and involve substantial risk. Treat comparison pages and delayed research tools as educational, not as substitutes for current executable market data or a broker’s product disclosures.
Use this guide as a framework for research. Provider-specific facts shown in TradeOffr comparisons are published through the official-source verification gate; unresolved changes stay out of the public comparison.
